About Bonus Blogs

Honorable Mentions

Post Pages' goal is to provide book reviews for new (within the last five years) best sellers (best selling books or best selling authors).  However, if we only focus on the new and the popular, we can sometimes miss out on experiencing some great books, whether they're older and classic, or the author is green and unseen.

The Honorable Mentions blog provides reviews for books I'd recommend reading, regardless of the age or the author's credentials.  These books will, for whatever reason, not fit in the criteria of the traditional review blog page.

True Crime Corner

Anyone who knows me knows that true crime is a passion of mine.  Growing up, you could find me tuned into Unsolved Mysteries, Forensic Files, and true crime documentaries, and when I wasn't watching those shows, I was reading everything I could get my hands on pertaining to the macabre.  As an adult, the only television I watch (when I have time - master's degrees are time consuming) are either true crime documentaries, anything on Investigation Discovery, or Jeopardy (I know, not related, but it's so exciting!), and morning commutes are consumed by true crime podcasts (need suggestions / have suggestions?  Reach out!).  Part of this sparked my desire to go to school for psychology and become a criminal psychologist, but things don't always work out the way we think it will, and that's okay.  I love my current career, and can get my murder fill in my spare time.

Even though true crime seems to be on the up-and-up, in my day-to-day life, finding people like me who share my love of true crime can be few and far between, so I've created this segment of the blog to share my reviews on true crime novels.  With only a select few people for me to talk to regarding these recommendations (surprising that most people don't want to read about real life crimes and murder, right?!), I'm assuming that it's hard for other fans of true crime to find recommendations, so as much as this is for myself, this is also for you, my TC devotee.

As this is a bonus portion of my blog, it won't have regular review updates like my monthly reviews will.  However, I'll be putting a review in at least every other month (if not more).  Be sure to check in, and I'll post notices on the main page to let you know when a new book review has been posted.  Have suggestions for true crime novels for me to review?  Please feel free to contact me and you just may see your suggestion as a future review.

Desserts

Sometimes we don't want a whole meal, we just want desserts.  The sweet stuff, the empty calories, the icing on top.  The best part about being an adult?  We can have dessert whenever we want!  We can even bypass the whole meal and only have dessert.  However, is a diet consisting of only desserts good for us?  Heck, no.  We need the substance and the nutrients.

This blog is kinda like that.  The reviews are your main course.  They contain the good and the necessary, and they're what your "book diet" should primarily consist of: reading books and reading the reviews.  But sometimes we need something more, something different, something just for fun.  That's where my desserts blog comes in.  It's jam packed with fun blog posts including but not limited to entertaining lists, motivational posts, author interviews, up and coming authors/books, my ramblings, and more.  Just like rich, dark chocolate or strawberry shortcake, these posts are sweet and delicious but won't fill you up like last weekend's sushi and wine dinner.  They're just here for a little taste.  Satisfy that sweet tooth and enjoy!
